27th Feb 2020

Kidswear segment of the apparel industry is booming and its demand is growing with every passing day. The trending colours for kidswear in 2020 will be everything on the yellow line. Colours ranging from pale, soft, ice cream to bold are popular choices too. As a fabric currently Tencel is in vogue when it comes to kids’ fashion. It is a fiber made from the wood pulp of trees and produced using recyclable, earth-friendly solvents. When blended with cotton, Tencel adds wrinkle-resistance and the feel of silk. The eco and sustainability factor is steadily growing and every brand is looking for solutions for a smaller footprint! There is tulle as well which is doing the rounds for several seasons now. Seersucker is another fabric that is preferred a lot for summer clothes. When it comes to shapes dip back hems, oversize dresses, fashion mixed with sports styles, and fringes are things to look for in 2020.

Apparel for the little ones is ideally made of 100 per cent cotton fabric that is soft and breathable, safeguarding their sensitive skin, while providing them maximum comfort.

With trends storming the market in every segment and season of clothing launched, here are the top trends which are influencing the fashion choice of new parents:

  1. Cover it up with sleepsuits/rompers :- Sleepsuits/rompers are a one-piece clothing option for kids that cover both the arms and legs. They are high utility wear for both the children and their parents as it covers the entire body of kids, protecting them from adverse weather, pollution and insects alike, and also providing easy access to parents for changing diapers.

  2. Pre-coordinated clothing sets :- With the growing trend of hassle-free stylish buying options for newborns and kids, co-ordinated clothing sets are the new fad of the segment. The clothing sets are usually accompanied by added units like hairbands and bow-ties, and accessorised with frills and waistcoats. These clothing sets are available for daily wear and for special occasions too.

  3. Use of quotes :- Be it rompers, onesies, tshirts or any kidswear, styles with quotes like "Mama's Boy" & "Daddy's Princess" are a major trendsetter among millennial parents.

  4. Feel cute with appliques :- To give babies an added cuteness quotient, appliques are used in t-shirts and sweatshirts for a cuter appearance. Some designs have ears added onto hoodies, and some have a 3D texture to provide an additional sensory element to keep kids occupied.
